"Gettin' in the Game" Junior National Championships
The New England Hemophilia Association (NEHA) is very excited to have the opportunity to send two representatives from New England to compete in the CSL Behring Gettin’ in the Game Junior National Championships (JNC). One person will be selected for golf and the other for baseball. The annual Junior National Championship event will take place September in Dallas, Texas. CSL Behring will provide travel arrangements and cover travel costs, including airfare, hotel accommodations, scheduled meals, and transportation while in the host city for each competitor and one accompanying adult. (Please note – the competitor and accompanying adult will be responsible for their own transportation to and from their hometown airport.)
During the program, educational sessions will be available for parents and caregivers, while participants will have the opportunity to take part in a clinic where they learn the fundamentals of their sport, learn about the importance of physical activity, and show off their baseball or golf abilities in a national competition with fellow participants from around the country. The golf competition will include a 9-hole tournament, and the baseball competition will include throwing, fielding, and batting assessments. From these events, the Junior National Champions will be crowned.
To be eligible, all applicants must:
• be between the ages of 7-18 as of September 2012 ; and
• be a resident of one of the six New England states or a NEHA member; and
• have a bleeding disorder; and
• be able to attend the national JNC event in Dallas, Texas in September.
To apply, applicants must complete a registration form below and submit a one page essay on why he/she would be a good NEHA representative to participate in the next JNC. All applications must be received by NEHA no later than Wednesday, August 8th. Complete and qualified applications will be reviewed by NEHA, and two will be chosen to represent New England at the next Junior National Championship in Dallas.
