September 20 @ 5:00 pm - September 22 @ 12:00 pm
First Connections is a new NEHA program dedicated to families who are recently diagnosed and new to the community.
The objective of the program is to
* serve as touchpoint for families who have young children who were recently diagnosed
* connect families to NEHA
* share resources
* provide tailored, smaller events specifically to meet the needs of newly diagnosed families.
One aspect of the First Connections program in 2019 is a collaboration with PEP. PEP stands for Parents Empowering Parents. PEP is for families managing special and complicated challenges associated with having children that have serious medical conditions. It was developed over 20 years ago and has served over 3,000 parents across the globe. The PEP mission is to help grow and nurture productive and independent adults by providing skills-based educational programming, community, and resources to parents in need. Max attendance for this event is 7 couples (14 individuals.) The 2019 session of PEP is specifically open to parents of youth 11 years old and younger.
