Pull for Charity at Baramor
The New England Hemophilia Association (NEHA) is proud to partner again with Baramor in Newton Centre, MA to raise money for the bleeding disorder community through their draught line dedicated to charity. The "Wicked Strong Family" brew is on tap for the entire month of February! For every pint purchased, Baramor will donate $3 to NEHA. Mom’s in Action & Blood Sister’s Paint N’ Sip
NEHA's Moms in Action and Blood Sisterhood hosted a Paint N' Sip event their first event of 2020 on Sunday, February 2 at the Muse Paintbar in Dedham, MA. All moms from the New England bleeding disorders community and women with a bleeding disorder were invited to attend. This event included a painting session, dinner, and an educational presentation. The Hemophilia Alliance of Maine (HAM) and the New England Hemophilia Association (NEHA) hosted the 4th Annual Winter Camp at Camp Mechuwana in Winthrop, Maine from Friday, February 14 to Sunday, February 16. Winter Camp is a weekend of fun, engaging, and intergenerational outdoor programming that includes ice fishing and snow shoeing, sled dog rides, and lots of outdoor activities! Walk Kick-Off Party
On Sunday, March 1, over one hundred team captains and volunteers came together to help us kick-off our 11th Annual Unite for Bleeding Disorders Walk at Kings Dining & Entertainment. This event featured free lunch, bowling, arcade games and more. This event helped our community members learn more about our Walk, to meet other team captains, to learn tips and tricks on how to fundraise, and to network and have fun with your Wicked Strong Family! RI Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month Celebration
On Wednesday, March 4, Rhode Island community members came together at the Rhode Island State House to recognize March as Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month in the State of Rhode Island. Lt. Governor Dan McKee presented us with a proclamation signed by Governor Gina Raimondo to declare March 2020 as Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month (BDAM) in Rhode Island! Rep. Vella-Wilkinson and Rep. Newly Diagnosed Families Retreat
The New England Hemophilia Association (NEHA) hosted their annual Newly Diagnosed Families Retreat from Saturday, March 7 to Sunday, March 8 in Springfield, Massachusetts. This retreat was created last year after new members of our community requested this type of retreat to meet and connect with other new families. The objective of the program is to: serve as touchpoint for families who have young children who were recently diagnosed and/or have children under the age of 6. connect new families…
On Saturday, March 14, Mastery Martial Arts partnered with the New England Hemophilia Association (NEHA) to raise awareness and crucial funds for those living with a bleeding disorder. Mastery students were invited to participate in a PushUp-A-Thon at each of the eight Mastery Martial Arts locations in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Mastery's goal was to do 20,000 pushups in one day to support each of the 20,000 people living with hemophilia in the United States. Donations can be made for this…

We are excited to partner with Save One Life to show the film Bombardier Blood to the public on Saturday, March 21 at 9:30 AM at the Dedham Community Theater in Dedham, MA. All members of the public are invited to attend this special screening, and will meet Chris Bombardier himself! The suggested donation to attend this movie is $10. Virtual Coffee Cafe
On Tuesday, March 24 at 9 AM ET we hosted our first Virtual Coffee Cafe! All community members were invited to join us as we explore this new virtual tool to ensure that our community remains connected throughout this public health emergency. The discussion was led by Sarah Shinkman, NEHA's new Program Director. Sarah used this time to introduce herself to the NEHA Community, while also coordinating a discussion about upcoming NEHA programs and events in 2020.
Educational Webinar: COVID-19 & Bleeding Disorders
On Wednesday, March 25, we hosted our first Webinar Wednesday. This webinar focused on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and how this relates to the bleeding disorder community and treatment options. We were happy to partner with the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center for this webinar. Dr. H. Cody Meissner, MD, Chief of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease and Dr. Cathy Rosenfield, Pediatric Hematologist and Associate Professor of Pediatrics came together to facilitate this discussion.
