
Consumer Medical Symposium
Our Consumer Medical Symposium will be held on Saturday, March 15 and Sunday, March 16 at the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa in Groton, CT.
The goal of this event is to help you better understand what current and potential medical advancements are available to treat bleeding disorders and what they may mean for you and your family.
Programming Overview
- Childcare is available for infants to age 3.
- Children ages 4-12 and Teens ages 13-18 will enjoy fun and interactive program, followed by a field trip to the Mystic Aquarium.
- Adults will have their own educational sessions all-day Saturday and Sunday morning, including keynote presentations, breakout sessions, and roundtable discussions.
- Sessions will be led by medical providers from Hemophilia Treatment Centers (HTCs) in our region along with advocacy professionals, and other dynamic speakers.
- Information will be presented about hemophilia, VWD, inhibitors, and other rare bleeding disorders.
- Participate in roundtable discussions with our industry partners to learn about treatment options available and potentially in the future.
- Specific topic will include: overview of current and emerging therapies, insurance and the barriers and trends consumers should be aware of to access treatment, the psychosocial and emotional implications of changing products, and more.
Agenda Overview
- Friday, March 14 (optional, unofficial kick-off to Consumer Medical Symposium).
- 6 PM: Welcome Reception – Join us to kick-off the weekend and celebrate Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month together as a community! This will feature passed hors d’oeuvres, dinner for the entire family, and a cash bar.
- Saturday, March 15 (breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided).
- 8 AM: Registration & Breakfast
- 9 AM: Programming Begins
- 6 PM: Dinner & Family-Friendly Activity.
- Sunday, March 16 (breakfast will be provided).
- 8 AM: Breakfast
- 9 AM: Programming Begins
- 11:30 AM: Consumer Medical Symposium Ends

Travel and Accommodations
- Hotel: We have secured a room block at the hotel for both Friday and Saturday evening at the rate of $179 per night. Attendees can stay for one or both nights.

- Hotel Scholarships: A limited number of hotel scholarships are available to 2025 NEHA Members who would not otherwise be able to afford a hotel room.
- If you receive a hotel scholarship for this event, you are ineligible to also receive travel assistance through our $100 for 100 miles program for this event.
- To request a scholarship, please email Diane at [email protected]. Requesting a scholarship does not guarantee acceptance.
- Travel Assistance: NEHA 2025 members in need of financial assistance, who traveled more than 100 miles roundtrip to this event, are eligible for our $100 for 100 miles program. Funds for this program are limited. More details will be shared after the event.

- The event is free for any 2025 NEHA member.
- The fee for non-members is only $10 per person.

Cancellation Policy
- If you cancel your registration within one week of the event or do not show up for the event, you will be charged a cancellation fee of $30 per person.
- Please do not attend this event if you have tested positive for COVID-19, the flu, RSV, or have cold-like symptoms.
