Backpacks and Bleeders is was created by Chris Bombardier in conjunction with the Colorado Chapter of NHF with a goal of making outdoor experiences more accessible to the bleeding disorders community. Now that Chris has joined the NEHA community, we want to begin to build the program in New England! On Saturday, August 17th, we launched NEHA’s Backpacks & Bleeders program at West Rattlesnake Mountain!

Here, Chris Bombardier hiked with us, and shared his personal stories of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro and what bleeding disorder care looks like around the world. We also offered a brief educational session to help educate community members about safely participating in outdoor activities such as hiking, and Chris talked about how he packs factor and prepares for outdoor adventures safely.
